Kyle Wilks

We have great pleasure in supporting the Southampton based 1000cc Superstock rider Kyle Wilks. Kyle had his debut in the 600cc Superstock class in 2012 with the Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki Team and is an exciting prospect for the future of British Motorsport.
Having just turned 19, Kyle is one of the younger riders on the grid but even in his first season at national level he kept pace with some well-established riders in the 600 class, scoring his first points at Donington Park in a support race for the World Superbikes in May 2012 with regular points finishes from then. The penultimate round saw him enter the top 10 with a fantastic 7th place finish which was only bettered by a magnificent race in the finale at Brands Hatch GP where he took 4th, narrowly missing out on his first podium at national level. Kyle will be staying with Bournemouth Kawasaki and riding with the Quattro Plant Kawasaki Team in 2013, this time on a ZX10R in the fiercely competitive Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class.
Having met Kyle for the first time at Oulton Park in May 2012 we were very impressed with his ambitions and level headed attitude. During 2012 Kyle sat his A levels which disrupted testing and qualifying at times but he achieved an A and 2 B's in economics, law and biology. He now works as a cycle mechanic during the week which fits in with training and his employers are fully supportive of his racing, adjusting his hours to allow for time off. This year Kyle was also selected to instruct for Ron Haslam Race School at Donington Park where he will have the opportunity to share tips and experiences with possible future racers. Kyle is also a 2nd dan Black Belt in Kick Boxing and enjoys Cycling, Motocross, Pit bikes, Kayaking and Ski-ing.... so there’s never a dull moment in the Wilks household!
We were also amazed to hear that he is only one part of a keen motorcycle racing family with his brother also trying out the sport at an early age, racing with Thundersport GB in the Aprilia Superteens class.
